Salesforce and Anthropic recently announced Claudeforce, a strategic partnership that will bring the intelligence and reasoning of Claude to bear on the data and workflows within Salesforce environments.

SIG’s Salesforce experts weighed in on what this partnership means for colleges and universities — and how you can start using it to change the way your team works.

1. Admissions: Know Who Needs Attention and What to Do Next

Admissions teams manage thousands of prospective students at different stages of the enrollment journey. In the sea of data available on these prospects, the biggest challenge is often determining which information matters at each stage of the journey.

For example, an admissions leader could prompt Claude in Salesforce with: “Which applicants should my team prioritize today, why, and what should we do next?”

With the right data available in Salesforce, Claude could help synthesize applicant activity and surface wide-ranging situations that warrant attention, like flagging an applicant who hasn’t engaged in two weeks and suggesting outreach, identifying someone with a missing application requirement, or helping staff see where follow-up may be needed.

2. Advancement: Walk into Every Donor Conversation Prepared

Fundraisers know that the quality of a donor conversation often depends on understanding the relationship that came before it. But preparing for a meeting could entail reviewing everything from giving history and engagement to personal interests.

Rather than burning time sifting through a dossier of information, a development officer could prompt Claude with: “Prepare me for my meeting with this donor. What should I know, and what should I consider discussing?”

Claude could synthesize the relevant Salesforce information into a concise briefing — highlighting recent engagement, potential opportunities, and areas the fundraiser may want to explore.

That’s less time spent searching for information and more time building relationships.

3. Student Success: Turn Signals into Earlier Action

Colleges and universities operating in Salesforce have access to an incredible amount of information about student interactions and support needs—so much so that it’s sometimes difficult to connect the right staff members with the greatest areas of need.

A staff member might ask Claude: “Which open student cases require attention this week, and why?”

Claude could help synthesize appropriate Salesforce case and engagement information, summarize the context, and help staff understand where follow-up may be needed.

In this case (and hopefully all cases), AI is making human judgment more efficient, not replacing it.

4. Executive Leadership: Find the Story Behind the Data

Higher ed leaders navigating multiple enrollment, advancement, and performance dashboards no longer need to sift through mountains of data to understand what’s changed and why it matters. They could simply ask: “What changed in our enrollment pipeline this month?” Or “What are the three biggest things I should be paying attention to right now?”

While the decision about what to do next still rests with the CFO or President, they can get to the information they need to make those decisions much faster.

5. Administrative Productivity: Give Staff Time Back

Some of the most immediate opportunities for using Claudeforce may come from eliminating the repetitive work that consumes staff time every day.

With the appropriate Salesforce context, Claude could potentially help staff:

  • Summarize a lengthy case history
  • Prepare a meeting briefing
  • Draft a follow-up communication
  • Summarize notes
  • Identify outstanding actions
  • Recommend possible next steps

Across hundreds or thousands of interactions, the time saved across these seemingly minute tasks adds up.

Start Small

Institutions don’t need 100 AI use cases. Start with one process where staff spend too much time searching for information, interpreting data, or deciding what happens next.

Then ask: Do we have the data, integrations, governance, and Salesforce foundation to make that use case work?

If you need help with ensuring your Salesforce environment is optimized for Claudeforce, SIG can help.
